Are you like me and struggle with keyword research? Finding keywords isn’t actually the problem. The problem is though that most are next to useless, or at least seem to be.
When I used Google’s keyword tool I trusted the results 100%. I mean, they wouldn’t be telling fibs about their data, would they? Turns out they do and they don’t.
Any data you get isn’t accurate. However it would have been when they collated it. The answer to this particular enigma came to me almost accidentally.
I went for a key phrase with around 5,000 pages competing against it. I was pretty sure I could get a good result with that keyword. I started churning out articles by the bucket load.
It didn’t take long to notice there were now over 9000 competing sites. I could hardly believe that. Had there been some mistake? It turned out that my articles were showing on these sites and ranking for the keyword.
I would have definitely avoided this key phrase had I saw 9000 competing web pages. I was competing with myself as my article was on the majority of these new sites. A win win situation if you ask me.
I got lucky on that keyword but I suspected I may not get lucky again so I made the decision to try out a keyword research service. Getting a daily list of quality keywords sent is something that appeals to me. I calculated the cost against the time it would take me and it seemed a value for money concept.
Of the keyword research services on offer I opted to try Travis Sago’s Instacash. Let’s face it, Travis is THE bum marketer. Bum marketing only costs my time so it’s my kind of marketing.
If I can get a keyword or two in my in box each day then that saves me valuable time. At least a two hour saving. When all I have is time then two hours saved can be huge to me. If I put the time saved up against the daily cost it shows clearly there’s value to be had.
I get a lot of emails from gurus banging on about outsourcing. And what I’m trying here is simply that. I’m giving my keyword research to someone else to do. That’s outsourcing.
